The sun began to set in the west over the beautiful garden on the Marifuji property. Ever since he was a boy this place had always been what he called home, this gorgeous sanctuary where his father had retreated to many times when facing a challenge or needed somewhere to clear a head congested with thoughts running like a freight train through his brain. As he grew older the younger Marifuji would find himself wandering through the bamboo and trees, his feet bouncing lightly on the sun drenched grass looking for answers to questions he could not figure out.
This is where Kensuke found himself this very evening aimlessly walking through this heavenly place. It has been a week since his opening victory for Thy WWE over Dominic Reynolds, making a mesmerizing debut and quite frankly shocking some critics in the process. This did not bother him though, all his life there had been critics and there will continue to be critics until the day he leaves this earth. However, he did not have time to savor the sweet taste of victory as his next test on this quest has brought him into a triple threat match with Xavier Oden and fourth generation superstar Robert Saints. Defeating one man was a difficult task in its own right, defeating two men was going to be a challenge. Kensuke though never ran from a challenge no matter the difficulty.
Many people did not believe that last week I would walk out of that ring victorious. However, the Marifuji prophecy came true and I defeated Mr. Reynolds 1, 2, 3. Now, some will try to put a black mark on my debut saying that I only one because of outside interference due to Blade LaVigne, tarnishing a hard fought effort from a young man who pours his heart and soul into everything he does. Whatever those doubters say though will not convince those who saw the truth in that ring. The truth is that Dominic lost focus on the task at hand. He did not allow himself full concentration and his foolishness cost him a golden opportunity to prove his words spoken about me. One must block out all distractions, anything to cause a lapse in mental focus or their chances of succeeding decrease significantly. One man lost his concentration and the other didn’t. I was nervous for my first match in front of a sellout crowd, jitters that felt like butterflies fluttering in my stomach and knowing that my opponent who stand across from me was worthy test of skill and endurance. However, I kept my focus and was able to overcome the hurdles that I faced. I earned that victory with heart and passion as well as mental toughness.
The serenity of being in such a beautiful surrounding soothed him even when his soul had been hardened at times. Marifuji believed this property to be Shangri-La, a harmonious level of reality that could bring peace and tranquility to those who believe in its spiritual aroma of sweet nectar. A smooth breeze hits his face with such a cool gentle touch that could bring a man to his knees. Suddenly, a playful smile danced on his lips.
Now I am faced with two opponents at once, both coming to destroy my quest at greatness and the quest to honor my father’s legacy. As I said I believe I am very talented and have much skill, but, even the most skilled man in the world can fall short in the face of evil. This evil I face again this week in the form of two opponents with hate in their heart but the will of a beast. Robert Saints and Xavier Oden will stand across from me with the face of two wolves salivating at the mouth, teeth bared looking to tear apart their prey. They will try to sink their teeth in me in the hunt for that hot, sour, iron like taste of fresh blood. It will take more than skill to tame these two beasts in order to forge ahead in honor. I must out whit those as well as use my training to become victorious. Skill wise my opponents are worthy of my respect, but, I do not take kindly to their attitudes and personalities.
A darker look flashed across the face of Kensuke. This man that sits in this garden shows much respect to his opponents. His father used to tell him give those respect because if you do not respect thy opponent then the match can already be lost before it begins. Taking the teachings of his father before him Marifuji never made the mistake of underestimating his opponents. That in itself can cause a man to lose a battle, whether it be a man or wrestling with his own demons. One thing he does not take kindly to those who represent themselves at thugs, gangsters who pride themselves on the wicked things they do in order to show dominance. It is this that he is reminded of his opponent Oden. The cocky walk, the dishonorable actions this man takes to win disgusts Kensuke. He now is looking toward the sky, the darkness that had come over him before has not left his body.
Xavier Oden, I despise you more than you know. The evil and disgrace that you carry as a badge of honor is incredibly disgusting. Preying on the weak minded, stooping to levels so low that you eventually find yourself in the underworld as you boast your despicable acts as legitimate tactics is ugly and foolish. You remind me of the Yakuza here in Japan. Men who rape and prostitute innocent women and children for the sake of what they call business. Pushing drugs infecting and killing people for the almighty dollar. You sir are a cancer, wicked and vile that’s eating away at the decency of the world and your evil ways must be eradicated. It is men like me who need to stand up and be role model for those lost children blinded by the trick that is gang life. Too many children I have seen become monsters and die by the way of the gun and blade. Yes, I wrestle for my father, for my family, for myself. However, I also fight to show those who are lost that there still are good people out there. I can show those children in that arena how to fight and win with honor, which Mr. Oden, is something you do not have! You earned the nickname of the Devil I’m sure, but, I will be the one to slay the beast of a devil for the sake of honor!
Enraged, Marifuji chops down one of the bamboo trees with chops and kicks, cutting through the thickness as if his body does not understand what pain is. His blood is boiling thinking about all the horror he has seen in this world and with only being in Thy WWE in a week has seen the evil that lurks around every corner in the company. Once, a dear friend of Kensuke’s was kidnapped by the Yakuza, his body found in the streets two days later hacked in pieces, horrified a young Marifuji, causing him to vow that he would never become an animal like those that killed his beloved friend. He breathes heavily, his chest and stomach violently rushing in and out with air as the memory of this incident continues to haunt him every day. After a minute or two the breathing slows, his blood cooling back down as he regains composure of his emotions. It is with this that he turns his attention to his second opponent. The arrogant fourth generation superstar known as Robert Saints. Thinking of the false pride that shows through this man reminds him of something a man said long ago.
A wise man once said “A quick temper will make you a fool soon enough”. You may have the talent, skills and natural ability of a wrestler but your attitude deceives you. I see a man who is trying so hard to prove that he belongs that he forgets what is in front of him. A successful man is able to tame his temper and use his passion in a way that helps him achieve his goal. Your temper and aggression can also be used against you by those who understand how to. The reason I defeat you in this match in the end will have less to do with skills and talent, but, more to do with smarts and understanding a human who is trying desperately to live up to a name that his anger and rage blinds him. My mind is stronger than yours Mr. Saints. In the end your arrogance will be your down fall, an emotion I learned many moons ago that I must not possess if I truly want to be great. I am humble and respect my competition, however, that does not mean that I am a fool unlike you Saints.
Once again a smile dances upon his lips. Mind, body, and soul will come together in a symphony that will bring him to victory. This he truly believes is what separates him from his opponents. Hours ago Kensuke wandered into the garden for answers, at first what he thought was a game plan, but ended up being a soul satisfying journey. Now, he believes that his answer has come. The key to winning this difficult match shown through clouds like the sun that was now almost fully down, surrendering itself to the night.
I will defeat the faces of evil that stand before me on RAW and I will do it with the honor that I have possessed my entire life. Taking advantage of a fool’s mistake will ultimately guide me to victory. I will harness all my skills to defeat the beasts that will try and hunt me down but will die by the swiftness of my blade. Proving that I am worthy of a marquee spot in this company. Proving to myself that my destiny is to wrestle and to be the light for those who still believe in good! Mr. Oden and Mr. Saints, be ready for the fierceness of the dragon. You will learn why they call me Master of the Kick and why they call it MARIFUJI’S PROPHECY!
As if taken out at the legs by an unseen force Kensuke falls to his knees, head toward the sky and his arms spread out in a praise to the gods. His spirit begins to soar like an eagle, his purpose in this company becoming clearer every time he faces a new challenge. Feeling that his father’s spirit is with him in this moment brings a joyous smile to his face. The good that he can bring into this world, the championships, the legacy that he can leave within the sport all drive this man to become the greatest wrestler on the planet. However, a force far greater than all these drives him more than anything else in the real or spiritual worlds that he is connected with, that, is the undying love for his father and mentor, Kensuke Marifuji SR.
