Through all transfiguration, all essence must remain, all is changelessly in change
Come out, the winter's over, come out into the day
Come out, the winter's over, no season ever stays....
Gorilla is chaotic tonight. Well, it really never isn't chaotic, but tonight it just seems so much more lively to Troy. He doesn't talk to anyone, he just listens to his music and watches RAW on the monitors up on the wall; occasionally a few people would grab his attention to congratulate him on getting his chance, and he really didn't give a flying fuck about the majority of these people. He can't help but notice the dirty looks he receives from the old timers that make up Vince's inner circle, but he doesn't grant them his attention.
He looks down at his phone when his music pauses and it starts vibrating. He rushes out of Gorilla to a quieter place to take the call.
"Nash, what's up man?"
"Nothin', just watching the show. I wanted to call you because I want you to know I'm proud of how damn far you've come." Kevin said. Troy couldn't prevent the proud grin.
"Thank you so much, you know that means a lot to me Kev."
"But, let me warn you, you haven't completed the journey, not even close. You still got a long way to go before you can reach your goal. Let's make tonight a good start, huh?"
"Hell yeah I will."
"Alright Troy, kick some ass and force them to notice you."

Earlier that Day
Troy is sitting on a chair in some silent part of the arena, leaning his elbows on his thighs and leaning his head on his hands. He's just staring at the ground, almost reflectively.
"Zak.... I have a lot of respect for you. You built yourself up, definitely without the help of Vince and his goons.... You made yourself, man. I'd go as far as to say I'm almost envious of you, because you have what I never did; a title. Yup, Troy Motor has never been a champion. And as much as I'd just love to blame it on the office, to say they held me back, to say I deserved it back then... I never put the effort forth. I never cared, dammit. I was never properly motivated. For all intents and purposes, I sucked."
Troy sighs and runs a hand through his hair.
"I regret that. Every day I regret that I couldn't put forth my best, instead putting forward the bare minimum to get by. It was stupid of me, but the past is the past. Here we are now, and I have the chance to finally show I'm worthy of the strap. I finally can show that I have the ability to go toe to toe with one of Thy's brightest prospects. This isn't about the New Age this time, it's about me, it's about pride! It's about me trying to prove I can fight, and I can win!"
"I have a lot of naysayers, a lot of people that don't want me to succeed, hell, that don't think I can succeed... And I'd like to think I can, but I can't know for sure until I get in that ring tonight and go toe to toe with Shields tonight. I pinned you last week Zak, and you can bitch and moan that I hit you in the nuts, but the fact remains pal.... I pinned you. For three seconds, you were down and you were out. And I pinned you. Do you understand that? I. Pinned. You. All it takes is three more seconds Zak, and you lose your title. I won't feel remorse for the beating I will launch against you. I won't look back and wish I had been easier on you. Because the title is worth it. My future is worth it. I will do anything to get my hands on the gold, because the recognition, hell, the pay raise, is worth it. I'll prove every person wrong when I pin you Zak."
Troy stands up, looking visibly agitated.
"If you pin me, it undoes everything I've done. All of the pain I've went through won't be worth it. I defeated a Hall of Famer, but I can't defeat the InterNational Champion? I won't allow my self to fail. I'm not bringing anything less than my A+ game. Zak, I hope you do too....... just so I can prove to God and the world that you couldn't beat on my best day."
Troy smirks at the camera, before we fade to black.

Present
Now Troy is on the ground, doing push ups as per his warming up routine. It's getting closer to his match time and he's pumped up. He resumes his standing position, removing his headphones and putting them on a nearby table. His eyes are trained on the television monitor as he takes a sip of his water bottle and pours the rest over his head. He closes his eyes for a moment, and he looks like he's almost praying... but really, Troy's internal monologue is a bit like this;
i need this.
I can't let myself down.
I need to win.
If I don't win... what's even the point?
What's even the point......
One of the officials come up to him and tells him to get ready to make his entrance in about 10 seconds. Troy nods and jumps in place a little bit. He feels like all eyes are on him, even if they aren't.
5....
This is it.
4....
If Troy wins this....
3....
He's a new man.
2....
He will be transformed. Transfigured.
1!
