The bell is rung and Zak is stood in the middle of the ring with his arms raised. The TV title in his right hand draping down his arm. Bob on the floor holding his shoulder where Zak forehead and moments ago connected from the top rope. Zak drops his arms and he looks down to Bob and he shakes his head in disappointment. Zak exits the ring as the ref checks on Bob. The sound of the fans slowly enters the mind of Zak as he walks up the ramp with Sophie hand in hand and his Title flung over his shoulder. Just as they exit the arena Zak looks back and see’s Bob on his feet leaning over the ropes. Their eyes meet for a split second and Zak shakes his head once more and they exit. Seconds after they get into the main hallway Bret with a jubilant smile on his face comes running up to Zak and he hugs him. Zak does not return the hug he merely stands there with his arms dropped. Bret pulls away now with a confused look on his face.
Bret Hart – “What’s wrong Zak?”
Zak leans over and he whispers something into Sophie’s ear and he hands her the TV title and she walks away towards the locker room, Zak points with his head in the other direction and they walk together and they converse. As they walk Zak picks up a bottle of water. Both men stop in their tracks.
Bret Hart – “Well?”
Just before Zak can speak Bob appears from the arena and he walks off in the other direction.
Zak Shields - “That man is not Bob Cena.”
Bret Hart – “Ok are you high or something. That was Bob just now. The man you just pinned in the ring. The man you just beat and proved to the world he isn’t indestructible.”
Zak opens his water and takes a long sip, he stops replaces the bottle and he continues.
Zak Shields – “No, The man I faced just then was not the man you faced at Oppression and took him to his limits. It’s not the man you faced at Anarchy. There was no passion tonight; there was no real fight in him. No, that man was not the POT we know. He’s far from it. Tonight I didn’t beat Bob Cena. Tonight I beat an imposter. If it really was Bob he would have put up more of a fight. I saw his real talent at WrestleMania. Bob Cena wasn’t in that ring tonight.”
Bret looks nods in agreement.
Bret Hart – “I know I saw it too. He wasn’t himself. Something must be on his mind. I just thought that maybe you had exceeded him altogether. But alas it doesn’t seem so.”
Zak looks at Bret with a cracked smile at him.
Zak Shields – “Cheers for the vote of confidence old man.”
Both men laugh as the turn back towards the locker room.
The night before the final RAW before the Anarchy Elimination Chamber Bret and Zak are sat in the hotel bar. Sophie is upstairs asleep as the boys enjoy a cold beer before turning in for the night. Zak is in his British brawler tank top and jeans ¾ length shorts. Bret is in his Calgary Flames jersey and his black shorts. They are sat on bar stools with a cold beer in hand. The bar is quite with some of the other crew and superstars in the bar area but nothing too bad for the single barmaid to handle. Bret turns to Zak.
Bret Hart – “So final RAW before the big one man. 8 man tag team match. How you feel mate?”
Zak takes a swig of his beer.
Zak Shields – “Pretty shit really. My teams screwed already. It’s the champs verses the challengers. Fucking sucks man who makes this shit up. I’m a Champ why am I not in the champions team.”
Bret Hart – “I know its shit mate but its former World Champions in the other team. TV Champion you may be but the board still doesn’t see you as a full Champion yet.”
Zak takes a longer swig of his beer and he places it back down on the bar.
Zak Shields – “It seems to me that neither the backroom staff nor the other superstars have even noticed that I walk around with the title around my waist. I told the world that would bring back the days of Brian Gunn when I won this Title and so far I’ve got nothing but blank expressions when I walk down the hallways. No respect for the Television Champion. That’s the god dam bottom line Bret.”
Bret in turn has finished his beer while Zak was talking. Placing the empty bottle on the bar the barmaid replaces it with a full one and one for Zak who has just finished off the last few drops of his.
Bret Hart – “Then make them respect you Zak. Tomorrow night all 8 of you guys will be in the ring together for the first time. Make them respect you by making an impact before going into Anarchy. They all see you as the underdog and everyone knows that the underdog has the biggest bite.”
Zak takes a swig and he puts the bottle down again and looks at Bret with a smile.
Zak Shields – “See this is why I keep you around Bret, You always keep me on the straight and narrow. You always know the right words to stir me on. And you’re right I am the underdog and I do have the biggest bite. Tomorrow night when I walk into that ring I have no team mates in my eyes it’s a god dam free for all. Blade, Joey and Undefined are not my team mates tomorrow they are my enemy just as they will be, come Anarchy. I mean look at the other team Beno and Knight will pretty much just fight it out between them all night and leave Bob and Jonny on their own.”
Bret Hart – “it will be interesting to see if Bob turns up tomorrow.”
Zak Shields – “Me and you both mate. I was disappointed last time so let’s see if he turns up and puts up a fight this time.”
Both men chuckle and they continue to drink their beers as the scene fades out.
