The air is thick with tension as the crowd awaits the start of the most anticipated night in Thy WWE history. Smackdown fans and Raw fans have all gathered here tonight to witness history... who will win: the Raw brand, or the Smackdown brand?
As the Raw fans boo Chris Jericho out of the building, many of the Smackdown fans back up one of their own with thunderous applause.
Jericho walks out onto stage with his US title round his right shoulder, carrying a smug grin on his face. He stands at the top of the stage looking out towards the split crowd, noticing both the cheers and the boos. He heads down to the ring and enters it.
In the centre of the ring, he once again looks out towards the split crowd and ponders on that for a moment.
He then holds his microphone to his mouth:
Chris Jericho
As I stand here I hear the sound of booing... but then again, I hear the sound of cheering. Now, I'll tell you why I can hear cheering. It is because all of the Smackdown fans have faith in my ability to strengthen the name of their favourite brand by defeating Brian Gunn tonight. I am now the US title holder which makes me a two time champion after only five months in this company. So if there's someone who can do it for the Smackdown brand, it's ME.
The Raw fans boo while the Smackdown fans continue to cheer.
Chris Jericho
My opponent tonight, Brian Gunn, currently holds the Intercontinental title, but as everyone knows the World Heavyweight title and the US title have always held more prestige than the Intercontinental title, which makes the fact that he holds that title mean absolutely NOTHING! So let me ask all you Raw fans this: how does Brian hope to defeat a man who has been World Heavyweight Champion and is currently US Champion? How does a man with worthless gold to his name hope to achieve victory against a man who has already rattled with some of the best... and won? The answer is he can't beat me!
The stake for this match may not be gold, but that doesn't mean winning this match it pointless. The point of winning this match is to show which the superior brand is. And by winning this match I will show Smackdown to be superior since I am on it. I am superior to any other athlete on any brand, so whichever brand I am on automatically becomes the better one. If I was somehow to be drafted to Raw in the upcoming draft, it would make no difference to me since no-one can stand up to my superior talents; Smackdown would just stop being the leading brand.
Some of the Smackdown fans start to boo Jericho, as he claims that they are no different to him than the Raw fans are.
Chris Jericho
Let me just say this plain and simple: this company revolves around ME. So all you fans out there should be hoping that I am drafted to your brand. It makes no sense that you would want to watch the other brand over the one that I am on, unless of course it's just to keep you busy while you wait for me to enter you living rooms and wow your dull minds over and over.
Booooooooooooo!
Chris Jericho
Brian Gunn, it would be best for you if you just didn't turn up to our match tonight. You, like Maven, are not ready to come up against my superior talents. I am getting tired of being put up against weak, untalented individuals such as yourself. I would much rather face a more established adversary like the Undertaker or the Miz. Only then, when I beat them, can I show that I am the best in the world at what I do. That is why I want to be drafted to whichever brand those two are on. So be warned Undertaker and Miz, after this year's draft, I will be coming for both of you... And I will gladly put any title I have at the time on the line. It really makes no difference to me.
Chris Jericho holds his US title above his head with a large and menacing grin on his face, while he receives more boos from the Smackdown fans than he did earlier on.
