OOC: I'm already aware that the deadline's long passed, which is why I haven't wrote a scene and why the promo itself is half-assed. But I figured I owed Cody and Blade so much as to post something, and just to keep people up to speed on who Alex is and his motivations.
That said.

"CM Punk. You and I have a problem."
"A personal problem? I don't think so. You might take exception to a number of habits that this industry has drilled into me. You'd probably call me weak-willed for turning to them."
"And you know, maybe you're right."
"Maybe it's my own fault for going so deep as I did in the first place. Who's to say? Who's to judge? Well, you are, I suppose. You've made quite a name for yourself as being a judge of character, not to mention jury and executioner as well. But no, as I said, this isn't a personal problem between the two of us. It's strictly a professional one."
"You see, if you consult this week's card, you'll notice that you and I are scheduled to face one another, and if you read the not-so-fine print, you'll also be aware that we're fighting for number one contendership."
"High stakes, Mister, um...'Punk.' They seem determined to make the pair of us go at one another with everything we have. Or perhaps there's another way to interpret it."
"Perhaps they are eager to test my reputation as a world class submissionist and have put me against someone who plays my game to test that theory."
"Perhaps they want to punish me for my little demonstration last week. Perhaps they think I'm going to be a pushover and they're bringing you in to throw you into the limelight, the golden boy of SmackDown, here on RAW now, right in the number one contender's position. You are, after all, undefeated, and with such a reputation, one could only assume that even the sturdy Undertaker would have to think twice against someone like you."
"But you know, the two of us have very different goals."
"I'm here to compete, Mr. Punk, nothing more and nothing less. This is a career for me, a simple, unorthodox career. A way for me to earn my daily bread and knock years off my life doing it."
"I've tried all I can to make myself into a 'star', and I got bored of the vapid lifestyle remarkably quickly. I tried to make myself an example, and it was an example nobody could be bothered to follow, or invest any time or money in. I even tried doing all I could to salvage this business, the entire industry, and none of my efforts resulted in any fruit. So, here I am. The most stressful environment imagineable, and I'm trying to lead a stress free life."
"What a paradox."
"What is this match to me? Well, it is what it is. A match. I'm going to fight you, and if I win, that's wonderful. I get a bonus, I get a match with The Undertaker, and if I win the championship, then I get that much more put on the table for me. Sponsorship deals, higher rates, negotiation leverages, everything I need to set my ideas into motion."
"This isn't about me becoming champion, Mr. Punk, this is about me doing what I am paid to do, so that I can get paid that much more to do it. I have other interests than this company that, let's say, the traditional lifestyle cannot possibly fund."
"I could care less whether or not people get behind me, much in the same way I could care less whether or not I actually beat you. Win or lose, I still get paid."
"So what is the problem that we have?"
"Well, the problem is...you remind me of myself, Punk."
"You remind me of myself a few years ago, when I was so convinced that I was the be-all and end-all of the entire industry. That only my ideas were correct, that only I could save this business, that only I was truly...pure."
"And to this day, toxins aside, I will still attest to being one of the best pure athletes in this business, in terms of professional conduct and disciplinary respect for the rules of the sport, a purity that even someone as 'clean cut' as you has strayed from."
"Whilst you may be pure in your personal life, I am pure in my professional life, so in that regard, we are both as guilty as one another."
"But you, Punk, you're still under the impression that you have to lead by example. Yes, your little drafting was spectacular. Yes, you're still undefeated. Yes, I must admit, you're a world class competitor."
"But the truth is, one man cannot save this industry, because this industry cannot be saved. No matter how many you get to follow you, even those you outright brainwash, there will always be seeds of doubt in the backs of the minds of those who are determined to get ahead of you. Those who think that they should be the face, they should have the glory, and will cut all the corners they can until their goals are completely circular."
"And it is a circular process, Punk. Those on top are dragged down by those below them, however they have to, and there isn't any way to stop it. The business is so clouded with smut that all those on the outside, sporting commissions, councils, governments, none will touch it with a ten foot pole, and the sport is left to die in the middle of the street, festering and rotting whilst those that can help it walk past like it's invisible, like a plague victim."
"We're all apart of that plague, Punk. We're infected by it, and no matter how hard we try to escape this industry, we're always going to reek of the wrestling business."
"We're always going to reek of the plague."
"What concerns me is that if you do pick up this victory, and if you go on to defeat the Undertaker in turn, I have to wonder what it would do to your already inflating ego, Punk. I have to wonder if these delusions that you'll be able to single-handedly save this leper like the Messiah you claim to be will take ahold of you."
"I already let myself go to waste with such a pipedream. It would be such a shame to let another talented individual like yourself go to waste like that as well. I would say that it was my moral duty to defeat you, to shoulder the burden myself to prevent such a thing..."
"But as I said. I'm past caring. So long as I'm paid."
"Good luck, Mr. Punk. Good luck with...everything."
