Don Chuckles: Gunn is heavily favored to come out on top here tonight Phil, but I’m still stickin with Sheamus. Ever since winning the title from Jonny Freeman at Oppression, he seems to have brought himself to a higher caliber.
Phil Latio: Sheamus is a 6-1 spread, I’m gonna make a fortune if he ends up winning.
Don Chuckles: Does your wife know you’re gambling again Phil?
Phil Latio: Look at how focused Gunn is!
As Brian Gunn’s music blasts throughout the arena, we can see the number one contender as he walks down the ramp just fixated straight ahead. Some of the fans are cheering for him, while a few others are heckling him and proclaiming that Sheamus is gonna beat his ass. None of it seems to get through the focus that Gunn has on his face as he slowly walks up the ramp and gets inside of the ring. Looking to the left, and then to the right, finally centering his focus on top of the entrance way…we hear Gunn’s music cut off. Only seconds pass before we hear the theme music of the World Heavyweight Champion come on as Sheamus walks out onto the ramp amidst a chorus of boos. Sheamus looks just as fixated as Gunn did, as he slowly begins to walk down the ramp to the ring.
Ringside Announcer: And next coming down the ramp, is the WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION, ladies and gentleman, he is SHEAMUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![/i]
Don Chuckles: This promises to be a hard hitting, truly physical encounter Phil. Gunn wants the top spot, and Sheamus has no intention of letting it go without a fight.
After we see Sheamus walk up the ramp and get inside the ring, his music cuts off as he takes the World Championship off and raises it in the air. Gunn, deciding to not wait for the referee to explain the rules, takes matters into his own hands as he runs up behind Sheamus and clubs him in the back with a double axe handle blow. Sheamus drops the World Title and falls to a knee as Gunn continues to drop more clubbing blows. The referee runs up to admonish Gunn, but a venomous look from the challenger causes him to step back and instead simply decide to order the bell to be rung, making this match officially underway. Looking down and seeing his attack effective, we now see Gunn pull Sheamus up to his feet and club him in the stomach and then once in the chest. The weight behind it causes Sheamus to stagger backwards, and as Gunn charges, the momentum instantly changes as we see Sheamus hook Gunn and sting him with a power slam. Immediately hooking the leg and going for a pinfall out of instinct, we see the referee drop down and begin the count—1…2…NO! Gunn kicks out emphatically.
Don Chuckles: Gunn started off so strong Phil, but Sheamus is showing here that this is going to be no easy task Phil.
Phil Latio: This is gonna be fun….hehe
We then see Sheamus pull Gunn to his feet and hook him in an abdominal stretch in the center of the ring. Screaming for Gunn to give it up, we see the official come in to make sure Gunn is okay. Gunn is defiantly shaking his head no as Sheamus gets a quick grin on his face before clubbing Gunn in the chest twice. The referee points at Sheamus and screams at him to not do that again which only causes the champion to chuckle. After looking straight at the referee before hitting one more clubbing blow of his own, we see Sheamus lift Gunn up into a pump handle and drop him down onto the mat. Gunn flops around momentarily holding his back, but quickly covers up as Sheamus mounts him and starts to hit some stiff sounding closed fist left and right hands. Blatantly defying the rules now, we see the referee get gutsy as he pushes Sheamus off of Gunn and warns him that if he doesn’t knock it off that he will get disqualified. Does the champ want to go out that way? I don’t think so…we see Gunn quickly try to pull himself to his feet, but he is dropped back down to the mat as Sheamus stings him with a big boot. Sheamus then immediately gets on top of Gunn and hooks both legs…the official slides into position and starts the count—1…2…NO! Gunn kicks out and Sheamus stands up and nods almost knowingly, like he was expecting it to take more than that to put his challenger away.
Don Chuckles: I can kind of see the rationale Sheamus used Phil, Gunn started off the match using those double axe handle clubbing blows, so the champ simply gave him a taste of his own medicine.
Phil Latio: Call it what you will Donny boy, this is awesome so far.
Gunn gets up quickly once again, and Sheamus walks over to inflict further damage. But Gunn surprises the champ with a clothesline, Sheamus doesn’t go down though and is simply rocked by it. Gunn kicks Sheamus in the stomach and throws another clothesline. The thud would be enough to knock down a lesser man, but Sheamus is still standing. We then see Gunn start throwing some right hands, before throwing another clothesline which knocks Sheamus backwards into the corner. Gunn quickly follows up by running and stinging Sheamus with a corner splash before delivering several knife edge chops. Sheamus winces with each stinging blow, and we can see the albino skin of the champion getting red from the damage. Gunn then jogs backwards and comes in a second time, sandwiching the champion with another corner splash. This time Sheamus staggers forwards, and Gunn drops down low, lifting Sheamus up onto his shoulders and slamming him down onto the mat with a samoan drop. Gunn then hits Sheamus with two elbows before rolling over and hooking the leg of the champ for the cover. The referee gets into position and makes the count—1…2…NO! Sheamus kicks out.
Don Chuckles: So far this has been really back and forth Phil.
Phil Latio: This is what it’s all about Don, both men who desperately want to be the best.
Gunn then gets back to his feet and awaits Sheamus to rise, when the champion gets back to his feet Gunn stings him with a right hand. But despite getting rocked, Sheamus quickly fires back with a left hand of his own. In the center of the ring, we now see Sheamus and Gunn thump each other with hard lefts and rights, going blow for blow until Gunn blocks a Sheamus left, kneeing the champion in the stomach before grabbing him by the head and dropping him into the mat with a DDT. Sheamus bounces off the mat and is staring up at the ceiling as Gunn gets back to his feet and bounces off the ropes. Coming back towards the champ, Gunn jumps up and connects with an elbow drop onto the chest of Sheamus before grabbing his legs and going for another cover. The referee slides into position and starts to administer the count—1…2…NO! The champ kicks out, and it is still apparent that Sheamus has a lot left in his tank.
Don Chuckles: First Sheamus dominating, and now Gunn. This could really go either way Phil.
Phil Latio: What did you expect?
Thoroughly in control, we now see Gunn pull the champ to his feet and once again knee him in the midsection. Gunn takes the arm of Sheamus and puts it over his head, before hitting him with a vertical suplex. Keeping the arm locked, we see Gunn gyrate his hips and we immediately know what he is going for. Gunn uses momentum to get himself and Sheamus back up, hitting a second vertical suplex, we see Gunn immediately shake and wiggle and get back up. Going for a third vertical suplex, to complete the Three Amigos trifecta, we see Sheamus block. Sheamus then tries to lift Gunn over for a vertical suplex, but now it’s Gunn who roots himself down. Gunn then uses muscle to heave the champion up and over, connecting with the third vertical suplex. Sheamus is holding his back on the mat as Gunn gets on top of him and goes for another cover. Screaming for the referee we see him slide into place and administer the count—1…2…NO! Sheamus kicks out and now we can see Gunn start to show some signs of frustration.
Don Chuckles: Not to many people have beaten Sheamus Phil, I can only wonder how deep Gunn is going to have to dig to beat the champion here.
Phil Latio: I hate your face
Don Chuckles: What?
Phil Latio: I’m sorry, impulse.
Brian Gunn, standing up to his feet, tapping his head and getting a grin on his face, we see him look down at Sheamus and once again pull him to his feet. Trying to continue his domination, we see Gunn leap up and go for a dropkick, but Sheamus smacks his legs away and moves as Gunn falls to the mat. Gunn immediately springs back up and charges towards Sheamus, it looked almost as if he was going for a spear, but Sheamus is able to partially counter it and he has Gunn in a modified front face lock. Moving further up, we see Sheamus have a gut wrench on Gunn. Lifting his challenger up, we see Sheamus drill Gunn into the mat with a power bomb. The sound of Gunn’s body smacking into the mat, not only knocks the wind out of him, but also causes a few of the fans in the front row to wince. Sheamus then drops down and bear hugs around Gunn’s chest before pulling him to his feet. Sheamus then contorts his body and slams Gunn back down onto the mat with a belly to belly suplex before dropping down and going for another cover. It only takes the referee a moment to slide in and start to make the count—1…2…NO! Gunn kicks out and Sheamus wastes no time as he pulls Gunn up to his feet.
Don Chuckles: The tide has turned Phil, Sheamus is now on top once again.
Phil Latio: Gee Don, I couldn’t have deduced that on my own…thank you for your amazing detective skills.
Sheamus once again blatantly defies the rules as he thumbs Gunn in the eye before hooking him and slamming Gunn down and over his knee with the Irish Curse backbreaker. Gunn flops around on the mat, and Sheamus immediately gets back up and slaps his chest before throwing his hands in the air and bellowing defiantly. The fans boo the World Champion, but the negative reaction only seems to make Sheamus smile as he goes towards the corner and slaps his leg. It looks as if Sheamus is gearing up to go for the Brogue Kick and put this match away. Letting another defiant howl escape from his midsection, we see Sheamus charge as Gunn gets back to his feet. Lifting his leg, we see the champ go for the Brogue Kick, but Gunn is able to counter and kick Sheamus hard in the stomach. Seizing what may be his only chance to finish this, Gunn immediately hooks Sheamus and slams him into the mat with The Heartbreaker. But Gunn is still hurt, and he is unable to go for the cover right away. It takes him a couple of seconds to go for the cover, and when he finally does, the referee makes the quick count—1…2...............NO!!!! Sheamus is able to lift his shoulder off the mat. The fans in the arena are starting to clap at the battle being fought between these two gladiators. We can see Gunn clearly utter some vulgarities as he hooks the legs of Sheamus and go for a second cover—1……2……..NO!!!!!!
Don Chuckles: If Gunn would have gotten on top of Sheamus seconds earlier, we very well could have a new World Heavyweight Champion here.
Phil Latio: I was on the edge of my seat there Donny boy, I am definitely not gonna lie.
Looking towards the top rope, we see Gunn get a gleam in his eyes as he climbs onto the apron and starts to climb to the top rope. But Gunn, still weary from the damage caused is slow to get to the top rope. The extra time causes Sheamus to roll over and see what Gunn is going for. Finally Gunn stands tall on the top rope and panders to the crowd, leaping off we see him go for The Soul Crusher. But in an amazing display of quickness, and in a move straight out of the Matrix, as Gunn flips through the air and comes down, we see Sheamus spring up and hit a modified Brogue Kick, connecting square on Gunn’s head, as he lands and smacks the mat hard. A few fans try and get a holy shit chant started, as Sheamus shakes his head and drops down and goes for the cover. The referee slides in and makes the count—1…..2……..NO!!! Now it’s Gunn’s turn to kick out, and we can see Sheamus scream and curse. Punching Gunn in the head three times we see Sheamus go for another cover—1…….2……NO!!!!! Gunn kicks out. Not wasting any time, Sheamus tries a third time to go for the cover—1…….2…….NO!!!! Gunn kicks out and it is apparent that Gunn still has much fight left.
Don Chuckles: I don’t know who is going to take this Phil.
Phil Latio: I thought it was over there.
Sheamus goes back to the corner and once again slaps his leg, we know he is going for the Brogue Kick. It takes Gunn a few moments to use the ropes to get back to his feet, once again we see Sheamus charge and leap for the Brogue Kick, but Gunn is able to use his instincts and sidestep again. Gunn then grabs Sheamus and tries to use his own momentum against him and go for The Heartbreaker once again. But Sheamus is able to counter and muscle Gunn up and into position for The High Cross. Realizing the spot that he is in, Gunn flops around and fights for dear life. Knowing that he needs to hit the move before he loses it, Sheamus flings a still wriggling Gunn forward. Gunn lands at a sick angle on the mat as his neck hits first stiffly and his body folds backwards. Jesus Christ, that could be a broken neck. Gunn’s body crumples in a heap and he lies still, folded on the mat. We can see Sheamus, apparently shocked himself for a moment, force Gunn over onto his back and the referee slides into position and once again makes the count. Does Gunn have the heart in him to kick out? Is he able to kick out? 1………….2……………..3!!!!!! This match is over, Sheamus has retained the World Heavyweight Title. Rolling off of Gunn, we see Sheamus have a look of thankful-ness in his eyes that this is finally over. The referee looks down at Gunn and checks on him to make sure that he didn’t break his neck. We see Gunn’s eyes open and him be responsive to the referee, which is good.
Don Chuckles: Sheamus did it Phil, but I know he was not expecting such a war from Gunn.
Phil Latio: I disagree Donny, I think Sheamus knew Gunn was going to fight tonight. This is why he is the champion Don…this is why Sheamus is currently on top of the mountain.
The fans are clapping for the war that they just seen unfold in the ring, we see the official hand Sheamus the heavyweight title and raise his hand in victory.
Winner: Sheamus in 25:45 via The High Cross.
We see Sheamus raise the World Title and howl triumphantly in the ring as the show cuts to an advertisement break. [/center]
