The scene opens up with Maven backstage in his locker room. We see him taping his wrists up as a towel lays on his shoulders around his neck. Posters of Himself and other legendary superstars cover the walls.
The scent of lemons can be smelled throughout the room as a picker of lemonade sits on a plain wooden table. A steel folden chair is pulled out with a black duffle bag sitting upon it. Maven has a pair of survivor steel toe boots on and a pair of old dirty jeans. Maven rises as he stares the camera dead on.

So....The Rated R Superstar has been injured and replaced with the pompous asshole Cody Rhodes. A third generation superstar who's daddy happens to be a WWE Hall Of Famer. Well let's get one thing straight Cody. This isn't the WWE.
This is THY WWE! Being the son of Dusty Rhodes doesn't matter here.

At the Great American Bash our match with decide who will be the first ever THY WWE Hardcore Champion. You recently said in a promo that I know nothing about the Hardcore division. Before you run that mouth of yours, get the facts straight. I am a former THREE time WWE hardcore champion. I even bested the Undertaker to gain the gold.

Those aren't just signs that they made for my match against Edge. They know who will be the one walking away victorious with the belt held high. I put my body on the line in many hardcore matches.Ive been put through tables, been busted open to the point of which the referee had to stop the match.
But I've also dished out the punishment ten times over. I made a career in the now defunct Hardcore division. Yet you still have the balls to tell me that I know nothing about being Hardcore. Well I guess I'm just going to have to show you first hand.
Like you said, you've never competed in a match where Hardcore Rules apply. This should be an interesting night indeed. You sit there and claim to win this one for Edge. Let's face it Cody. Edge is a better athlete than you will ever be. No one respects you here. You've yet to earn anything here. You'll only have my respect if you can beat me which is highly doubtful. No one knows more about what it takes than the original Tough Enough Winner... Maven!

When I'm done with you Cody, you will be on life support with the IVS pumping blood into you at a break neck pace. I plan on sending a message through you by decimating your body to the point that you cannot walk. There's only one thing enveloping the Hardcore title from me and that would be you Rhodes....
