Raw begins this week on a different note with the sight of General Manager Starr standing tall in the ring with a somber look on his face.
We haven't seen Austin since getting ripped by Ken and then getting hit with the Brogue Kick from Sheamus after interrupting his grand return. We see that Austin has a microphone in his hand and the few fans booing at ringside cease as Austin lifts the microphone to his mouth and begins to speak.
General Manager Starr: There aren't too many people who can talk to me the way that you did three weeks ago, but then again Ken old friend, you aren't just a regular anybody are you. Our history is well known and I guess I should have known all along that you were going to try and eventually “talk some sense” into me. I guess I should have expected you to pull me aside and give me one of your sanctimonious sermons about appreciating second chances, blah blah blah.
But this time there was something different old friend.
I heard the plea in your voice old friend, I seen the sincerity in your eyes, I watched the tears swell as you begged me to realize the error of my ways. Much to my own shock I found myself actually questioning the resolve that I have had up to this point. After your speech old friend I found myself actually wondering if this was all worth it.
Then I started to get angry.
You of all people Kenneth should know how much this match means to me. To anybody else it's just me unable to let one loss go, but you should understand the depth of it. You should understand the fact that I need this victory, I need to not just beat her, but decisively defeat her so I finally can let go. If I am unable to defeat her this Sunday at Ascension, then everything else that I have worked for and accomplished over the course of my career will have been for nothing. The championships I've won, the business decisions I have made, the opponents I have beaten, it will all be overlooked and overshadowed by the fact that I was unable to defeat her.
Who are you to judge me Ken! Who are you to try and tell anybody anything when it comes to their career? I mean especially since you still insist on this foolish quest to have one last triumphant match, despite the glaring fact that the last three times you've competed, each time you just have been reduced to a blithering, incompetent fool who has had to be carted out of the arena on a stretcher. You won't let that final match go, just like I can't let her go. But yet you judge me?
Hypocrite....
Enough of that though...
Hello Caitlin...I know you're watching right now, I know you can hear every word I am saying right now. I know you're looking at the clock, nervously watching it tick ever so closer to when our destiny finally comes to a surface. Has the seriousness of it dawned upon you yet Caitlin? I know you tried to nonchalantly dismiss me, I know you tried to simply ignore me in hopes that I would go away on my own.
But it didn't work.
Whether you like to admit it or not Caitlin, I have gotten inside of your head.
For years I have pursued you Caitlin, for years I have fought and lobbied for this to happen. And I intend to hold nothing back. You are the sole thing that stands in the way of me finally being able to walk away for good and I am telling you right now Caitlin that I have every intent of massacring you inside of that cage.
However, I am also realistic. I am also well aware of the possibility of failure. If you are somehow able to survive Caitlin and defeat me, then my entire career will have been devalued.
If I fail at Ascension Caitlin, there will be no reason for me to stay in this business.
So if I am defeated at Ascension Caitlin, I will tender my resignation as General Manager and resign from my position here at Thy WWE. Not just that, if I am unable to defeat you Caitlin, I have already told Mr. McMahon to void my contract and fire me on the spot.
The stakes just went up Caitlin.
Are you ready for this?
General Manager Starr drops the microphone and walks up the ramp as the show goes to commercial.

RETURN FROM COMMERCIAL
In the first match of the show we see Brian Gunn and FEAR defeat "The Prodigy" K Orton and AJ Styles after Gunn and FEAR plant Styles with a powerbomb/neckbreaker combination and Styles is subsequently pinned.
In the mini-rumble we see Teatly get secured as the first entrant in Ascension this Sunday and Jacob Senn secure the final entrant slot after narrowly sending Barton over the top rope.
Finally after another commercial break we can see General Manager Walker in the ring with Alex Kendall and Sheamus. After doing another equipment check to make sure Austin didn't have his mic cut again we see Ken start to speak.
General Manager Walker: Hello ladies and gentleman, as you know these two men will square off in one of the most hotly anticipated rematches ever as Alex Kendall will be defending his Unified World Title against Sheamus. Sheamus you have yet to speak since you're return, but now I have to ask you the same question that not just Alex, but the entire world is thinking. What makes you think you deserve this? What ma-
Sheamus: Aye Ken! Let me tell you exactly why I deserve this rematch. Maybe the Celtic Warrior might have undersold Alex Kendall the first time our paths crossed, but I can tell you it's a mistake that won't happen again. You see Ken, Alex is quickly starting to realize the same thing that became quckly apparent to me while I was champion.
The fact that there aint be nobody else that's worthy to truly compete for that strap. Since debuting Alex has been undefeated, since winning the title from me he has continued to run unopposed. But Alex knows, he knows deep down that I can beat him. Alex Kendall is threatened that I ca-
Alex Kendall: Oh I'm sorry, I started to glaze over when the naive delusions started to spew forth from you. Sheamus I am threatened by no one, I am afraid of no one, if you think that I am worried about Ascension, no it's quite the opposite. You and I tore the house down when we went to war over this championship the first time and I can't wait to get in the ring and actually have to work for my victory for a chance.
It is going to be blissfully refreshing to actually have to earn this victory rather then it be a mere oversight like it has been for all of my thirteen prior opponents.
General Manager Walker: As I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted. Sheamus, Austin and I don't see eye to eye very often, but one thing that I agree with him on is this. What gives you the right to come in here and jump to the head of the line? What gives you the right to think that you are more entitled than any of the other guys who are chomping at the bit to be where you are now?
Sheamus: Like who Ken! Who ye gonna send to face Alex if it wasnt me? You gonna send Jacob Senn to get his arse handed to him for the fifth time? You gonna send Orton? Or Mark Greenberg? Maybe the Professor of Thuganomics? Face it Ken, I am the only man who has any chance of wrestling the Thy Dubya Dubya E World Title away from Alex Kendall and you know it. Otherwise you wouldnt have swayed me to return to begin with.
Ken goes to speak but then Alex raises the World Title in the air and taunts Sheamus with it. The two of them come nose to nose, and we simply see Alex mouth to Sheamus that Sheamus needs this more then Alex does, and that he hopes he is ready.
Sheamus simply nods and says he's ready to go to war as the show ends.
