SCENE 1: Getting the First Interview
It’s been a entertaining night thus far, the fans have been pleased to this point. Minus Edge missing out, it’s been a smooth night. The camera comes back from a previous segment, flickering, it finally focuses in. It catches a old time WWE employee, Michael Cole. Behind the man dressed in an expensive suit, it a nice set up. In huge, bold letters are “G.A.B. each embodying a color of the American flag. The fans are all hushed, and anxiously await the beginning of what seems to be an interview. They can’t wait to hear from another SMACKDOWN! superstar on this amazing event. Finally, Cole breaks the silence and speaks into the amplifying device.

“Ladies and gentlemen, please give a warm welcome to my guest at this time, Cody Rhodes.”
The fans explode when they were the name. From them right side of the screen Cody walks into view. He is wearing less clothing then when he first arrived, and appeared in the ring, however, he is still wearing the large, proud smile. With his pearly whites on display, he lets out a long breath.. Earlier the fans were all so saddened to here the Edge wouldn’t be here, that was until they found out his replacement was this man. When the fans are once again inaudible Cole begins to speak again.

“Cody, I am sure you‘re just as shocked as everybody else for being here. It was an unfortunate event that fortunately brought you here, any words to the man who will be missing out tonight, Edge? ”
The New American Dream coolly licks his lips. Looking at Cole, as he speaks, into the mic being held to his mouth for him.

“It certainly was a quiet unfortunate event for the Rated R Superstar, but nonetheless I am honored to be here right now. Yes, Cole, I am just as shocked as you or anybody else at me being scheduled to be here tonight. As I said earlier I has plans on watching this at my home with my girlfriend. Certainly, this is more than I bargained for. I really don’t have a lot to say to Edge. Though I am sad to be informed about his injury, I am thankful to be in his spot now. Edge, I feel the need to thank you, actually. So thanks Edge, as wrong as it might sound, thanks. I also feel the need to make a promise. I know you had high hopes on coming out here, winning, and becoming the first Hardcore champion, whilst pushing Maven out of the title picture. So, on your behalf Edge, I will make it my duty to win this title for YOU. I will make it my mission to make sure Maven walks out of here empty handed. ”
There is a slight pause between . Cole is reluctant to pull the mic back to his lips, wondering if there is anything on the New American Dream’s mind that he would like to get off. After an awkward second, Cole finally relocated the mic in front of his lips and continues with the interview.

“I am sure Edge will be pulling for you in your match tonight. Speaking of which, Cody, I must ask do you have a set game plan going into you match tonight. Usually, wrestlers will scout their opponents, but you, having just found out about your match surely hasn’t had anytime to do so. What are your thoughts? ”
…the new american dream…CODY RHODES
“You‘re absolutely right Cole. I haven‘t had anytime to actually sit down and think. When I got here, the first thing I did was hit the gym. I wanted to make sure I was physically ready to compete tonight, I have had no time at all to actually make sure I was mentally prepared for my bout tonight. I don’t really think this will come as that great of a disadvantage though, because I am sure Maven himself wasn’t expecting me. Most likely he has been studying Edge, to make sure he knew what he was up against, so I am sure the playing field is leveled, so to speak. Also, you got to remember, I am the son of WWE Hall of Famer, Dusty Rhodes. I was born into this business, I’ve been in it the day I was born. I grew up with the mid of a wrestler, so the mental part, to me, doesn’t really have an effect. If you were raised by a wrestler, then become a wrestler it’s just like having TWICE the mentality of a wrestler. Whether or not I studied my opponent or not, I will be walking out the Great American Bash. I can promise you, even if my opponent were to change just moments before the match, I will be ready for whomever walks through the curtain and to the ring. ”
Towards the end of his answering Cody’s voice dropped into a much more serious tone. His smile was wiped clean, and he was staring deeply into the camera. But, being the happy guy he is, as soon as he stopped talking his cheerful, wide smile returned to exactly the same depth it was before. The fans admiring his mindset begin chants of his name that can be heard all the way backstage to him. He acknowledges their demeanor and flashes a wider smile, which was thought to be impossible to get any larger.

“Okay, vintage Rhodes family behavior here, always keeping a positive mind set. So, Cody, it’s been over six months since you’ve last competed in a ring. How does it feel coming back, for the first time in half a year with HARDCORE rule settings. Surely you must be effected by this somehow, right?”
…the new american dream…CODY RHODES
“Like I said, growing up in the wrestling industry prepares you for nearly every aspect. Sadly, I must say this isn‘t one of them. This is something that develops as you do. From this match I am hoping to grasp that aspect of wrestling, and add it to my long list of talents. I am a little worried about this, never before have I wrestled in with Hardcore rules being applied. But, I need to keep a positive attitude, go in there and give it all I got. I still have no doubts on walking away the Hardcore champion. As far as I know, Maven hasn‘t had much experience in the hardcore division either. So, again, an equal playing field here too. Truthfully, I really don‘t see things elevating beyond a few steel chairs. However, Maven I am not afraid to come out there with a cartful of weapons and unload hell on you. If you decide you want to get ugly, I can get ten times uglier. ”

“Cody, we are just about running out of time. I‘d really like to take up these last few seconds by wishing you the best of luck out there tonight. I hope you enjoy your unexpected debut, welcome to THY WWE! Ladies and gentlemen, enjoy the rest of the show.”
Cole flashes a very fake smile, which nearly gets a laugh from the audience. Cody just looks deeply into the camera, keeping the same elegant smile etched on his mug. Finally, the feed cuts off and the camera turns black.
