MONDAY NIGHT RAW
From the black we are shown the sold out Shea Stadium in Brooklyn, New York. The arena fans are screaming loudly, flailing their arms, doing whatever necessary to try and get the cameras attention. Instead of our usual cut to Don Chuckles, Phil Latio, and Julian Chichy, we instead pan in on the ring where we see a figure standing with his back to the camera. Turning towards the camera we are instantly greeted with that familiar porcelain mask. Caitlin Callihan is back?
No, something doesn’t seem right.
The camera zooms in a bit closer and we can see a gleaming set of blue eyes from behind the mask. Something seems oddly familiar about those blue eyes; but I can’t quite put my finger on it. We see the figure start to nod as its head lowers and we see it reach up, slowly taking off the porcelain mask from its face. Looking up we see the grinning face of General Manager Starr and the fans start to boo vociferously. Austin starts to slowly pace around the ring while still carrying the porcelain mask in his hands. Turning his head and eyeing the ringside crew, he gestures to them to be tossed a microphone. Once receiving one, he looks around the arena still grinning. The last time we seen General Manager Starr he had a bottle shattered over his head and was tossed off the stage by a still unknown assailant. Apart from a small band-aid on his forehead we wouldn’t have ever known something had happened to him. Lifting the microphone to his mouth we see Austin start to chuckle as he seems to be savoring the hate that the arena fans are spewing his way.
Never a fan favorite, this just seems different, ever since ordering the bounty on the mask of Caitlin Callihan, we’ve seen the arena fan base widely pan Austin and take great offense to justifying the assault of a woman. We can even see a pair of overzealous gentleman at ringside try to hop the barrier, but they are quickly pounced on and subdued by arena security.
General Manager Starr: You know something; there aren’t many moments in this business that surprise me anymore. I’ve had a long career, I thought I had seen it all and I thought I had done it all. I’ve won championships; I’ve wrestled in the marquee match ups. I’ve taken on and beaten some of the greatest names this business has ever produced. As a wrestler or as an executive, I thought I had done it all.
But that all changed that night…
The night I was last seen on Thy WWE television, I experienced something that genuinely took my breath away.
We see Austin gesture towards the arena big screen and it comes to life to show a recap of Mr. McMahon ripping General Manager Starr for the hit on Callihan and the attack of Jacob Senn and Triple H on Raw a few weeks back. The threat of firing, retorted by Austin with challenging Mr. McMahon if he could do the things Austin did to finally get Alex Kendall on the defensive instead of the offensive, and then Austin exiting the office, only to be dropped a few moments later with a sickening glass shatter. The screen then fades to black.
General Manager Starr: You see that night after exiting my office, a familiar smell greeted me. An intoxicating aroma that I would never forget…turning towards it instantly my mouth nearly hit the floor. There she was standing before me, sans the familiar porcelain mask that she was widely known for. I found myself just hypnotized as I looked at her for what seemed like the first time.
Caitlin Callihan is the one who attacked General Manager Starr! This is huge! We then see Austin lift up the porcelain mask to eye level as he now appears to be talking to the mask directly.
General Manager Starr: I could see the scars on your beautiful face suffered from the attack by Jacob Senn. The white hot anger that burned in your eyes, it did nothing to distract from your shockingly fair features. You are quite the beautiful woman, why you choose to hide such beauty is beyond me. I remember seeing a sneer form on your full lips as I looked down and eyed the beer bottle in your hand. Was this you showing me a symbolic moment of defiance? Was this you finally coming to terms with your destiny, accepting the truth I had been trying to get you to realize from our days together in Sin City Wrestling. Something told me that you had a desire to strike me down, but I didn’t think you possessed the guts. Something told me that this was all too good to be true. I remember dismissing you with a chuckle and turning my back to walk away.
Austin then cringes slightly and rubs his head with the mic hand before continuing.
General Manager Starr: That would prove to be the second time in the same night that I would be taken off guard. Walking away proved to be your moment to strike, as you brought that beer bottle against my skull with all of your might. Congratulations, I truly did not think you had it in you, I did not think you would ever do it.
We see Austin throw the mask on the ground and start to stomp on it until it is in pieces. Dropping down onto his stomach we see Austin staring intently at the destroyed pieces.
General Manager Starr: You made one mistake though, even when you would shove me off the stage later that night. You still didn’t finish me off, I’m still here standing. No matter what you do, no matter who you hide behind, no matter where you go, I will always linger in your life, I will haunt your very existence and dreams as you have haunted mine for years until you finally agree to SETTLE THIS!
Now apparently gone crazy we see Austin drop the microphone and start to smash the mask pieces with his fists until a voice screams out.
Female Voice: Enough Austin!
Austin immediately jumps up and his eyes shoot towards the top of the stage where the voice came from. It takes a couple of seconds but we see Caitlin Callihan walk out onto the stage once again wearing a new mask. A microphone is in her hands, and we can see her visibly shaking as her and Austin just stare daggers at one another.
Caitlin Callihan: This has gone on for long enough!
General Manager Starr: A new mask Caitlin, I must say I liked the old one better. Are you here to try and finish what you started?
Caitlin Callihan: Shut your mouth Austin! This time I am talking and you are the one who is listening. For years you have pursued me over the simple outcome of one match. It does not even matter that you would go to win and be recognized as the official final champion of Sin City Wrestling. Just because you lost one match to me, you have put yourself on this blood quest for vengeance. You sent Second Chances Wrestling to an early grave, and you have nearly condemned Thy WWE to the same fate because of it. I tried to take the high road Austin; I tried to implore you to realize the error of your ways on your own. I even tried to have Alex appeal to you as a voice of reason, but it wasn’t enough. But Austin, you went too far. When that madman Jacob Senn attacked me from behind, he nearly ended me, I was beaten within an inch of my life, and for what Austin!
For your **BLEEPED** satisfaction!
But I actually am here right now to thank you Austin, as surprising as that may sound.
General Manager Starr: Thank me?
Caitlin Callihan: Yes Austin, thank you. I want to thank you for making me realize that it’s time for me to do what I should have done a long time ago and kick your **BLEEPED** teeth down your throat. You started this Austin and I intend to **BLEEPED** finish it.
We can see Austin’s eyes get big all of a sudden.
General Manager Starr: Caitlin, how you never cease to amaze me. Are you actually challenging me? Have you fi-
Caitlin Callihan: Save it, make the **BLEEPED** match, so I can do what I should have done a long time ago. You’re a **BLEEPED** dead man!
General Manager Starr: Oh how glorious. You see Caitlin as you know your contract specifically barred me from forcing you to compete, but you challenging me is a different story entirely. Very well Caitlin, June 24th at Ascension, we will settle this once and for all. There isn’t going to be any running away though Caitlin, there aren’t going to be any grand schemes you can concoct to have Alex help you steal a win. Because we are going to settle this once and for all Caitlin inside of a roofed steel cage.
Two of us will enter Caitlin, but only one is going to exit.
Caitlin Callihan: So be it.
We see a maniacal grin come across General Manager Starr’s face as Caitlin just stares him down defiantly as the show goes to a commercial break.
