The screen washes out of the commercial break and into the vibrant red of the Monday Night Raw symbol which is burning proudly on the screen. The emblem recedes into the bottom corner of the screen as the broadcast gets underway. The viewers at home have their eyes fixated on the screen as the camera crew swoop down over the packed arena and to the announcer’s desk, where the JR and King section of the show is beginning to become a well known area of the show. Judging by his face, everyone can see that Jim Ross has carefully prepared a greeting for the fans and is about to speak with care while Jerry Lawler has a mischievous look painted all over his face and some of his signature extemporaneous prattle will tarnish JR’s hope for a peaceful, quite show. JR stares into the camera lens, fully aware of the dissention he is in for with King on tonights instalment of WWE’s flagship show, Raw. (Yes that was a highly predictable shot at Smackdown).
Jim Ross
Hello and welcome to another edition of Monday Night Raw! Hello I’m Jim Ross and as always my broadcast partner is Jerry The King Lawler. But back to the show, tonight we have an action packed and memorable episode of Raw prepared for the WWE fans. Our main event, is the currently undefeated Phenom of the WWE, Undertaker against a returning legend of the business, The Texas Rattlesnake, Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Jerry Lawler
I thought I’d never see the day when that no good beer drinking Texan got back into the company. What was McMahon thinking letting him in! He’s hardly of the same calibre of highly respectable individuals such as myself and Triple H. It’s no good troublemakers like Austin that are going to screw things up for the WWE!
Jim Ross
Well King, no matter what you say he is in the main event against the current WWE champion. Also, your opinion is very much contrary to the majority because me and the WWE fans are delighted to see one of the most popular and most successful superstars to ever grace a WWE ring make his big return. You were the only one not to shout “Hell Yeah!” with him.
Jerry Lawler
I personally hope that Undertaker knocks Austin senseless in that ring so he can go back to swilling beer in the comfort of his own home, away from us! But getting away from Stone Cold, Miz is getting a shot at Undertaker’s WWE Championship next week on Raw, that should be exciting.
Jim Ross
Well after their previous ordeal at Bad Blood, I would expect nothing less than an exciting match, I personally feel it will be a great match and we could even crown a new champion if The Miz is on his game next week, all he needs to do is pick up the win over D’Lo Brown, who has been looking more and more impressive of late.
Jerry Lawler
Apart from acting like a complete fool with his head banging, D’Lo has been getting results on Raw and if he beats The Miz he may very well warrant an Intercontinental Title shot or maybe even a WWE Championship bout with The Undertaker!
Jim Ross
I doubt D’Lo will get that far yet King, I’d say he has set his sights on building up a respectable list of wins and after that, I’m sure he will go after some gold. In case you missed last week’s Raw, here is a little something to help you catch up.
In the arena, the titantron begins to flicker for a moment before coming to life and a video package of last week’s Raw begins to play. It begins with D’Lo Brown vs Randy Orton. A brief segment is played showing the two athletes exchanging stiff right hands before skipping to the high velocity Lowdown on the steel chair and D’Lo Brown having his hand raised in victory. After this it shows Sylar versus The Miz, a great match on paper which didn’t really produce, The Mizs hand is raised in the video for a brief moment before proceeding to and exciting battle royal in which Brain Gunn threw Rey Mysterio over the top to pick up a decisive win and a shot at the IC Title. Next, the longest part of the video package ensues. It is a segment dedicated to the fantastic IC Title match between Sam DiBiase and Triple H, it concludes with the big spinebuster through the table by Triple H. Finally, The Undertaker versus Rob Van Dam is shown, it is a very brief piece of the video and shows Undertaker hitting a swift uppercut and a few big boots before finishing with a decisive tombstone to conclude the video.
Jim Ross
There you have it folks, last week’s Raw was a great one, but Triple H’s match with Sam DiBiase shined above all the rest of them. It was a truly memorable and excellent contest, but there could be only one winner, that winner was The Game, Triple H. What do you think King?
Jerry Lawler
I think that Undertaker’s Tombstone on RVD looked pretty gruesome and I hope that Stone Cold gets the very same tonight from The Deadman. I trust that Undertaker will pick up the win over Austin, heis full of ring rust and Undertaker is on top of his game, prepare to be disappointed JR.
Jim Ross
Would you ever give it a rest King? Austin is a great competitor and you can’t deny that. Just because I respect a man for his drive and his dedication in the ring does not mean I am completely biased against everybody else.
Jerry Lawler
Sure JR, that’s exactly the case. Sheesh JR, first you’re a biased commentator, so much for “calling it right down the middle” huh? But now you’re a liar too! I don’t know if I can work with a man like you.
Jim Ross
Oh brother, let’s just get back to the show King. Since we are on the subject of The Undertaker, he is due to make an appearance tonight on Raw. Perhaps we will hear him contrive a plan to vanquish Stone Cold to hell itself. Now I don’t know for sure, but I’m not sure that hell itself could handle the baddest SOB in this business!
Jerry Lawler
I’m not sure which is worse JR, hearing you or The Undertaker speak. But the worst part is, I’m gonna have to hear you both run your mouths tonight! Aw man, but it’ll be worth it if he runs Austin into the ground.
Jim Ross
Whatever King, you’ll be eating those words when Austing opens up a can of whoop ass and damn well pours the can all over the Undertaker!
*GONG*
Tonight is the in ring return of the Texas Rattlesnake folks and you wouldn’t want to miss because he is facing off against this man here, The Demon from Death Valley, The Undertaker.
As the Minstry guitar riff kicks in, Undertaker emerges from the depths of the backstage area garbed in his usual Ministry garment. The Undertaker walks with a look of solemnity on his face which insinuates that The Deadman has a valid response to Stone Cold’s dissonant message for the current WWE Champion Undertaker. The Phenom proceeds halfway down the ramp with the callous look deep in his steel blue eyes which says he is going into the match with himself fully invested in defeating Stone Cold in his big return to the WWE ring. Undertaker reaches the bottom of the ramp and smoke begins to whir around the ring, engulfing The Deadman momentarily. As Undertaker emerges from the smoke, he ascends the steel steps and rolls his eyes back into his skull and raises his arms into the air, from the camera angle it looks as though he is reaching up and placing the lights back into the roof as the arena. The arena illuminated by the powerful lights brought back into commission. Undertaker swings beneath the bottom rope and straightens up, standing as a lone fortress in the centre of the ring, exactly how he intends to be after a swift and lethal Tombstone Piledriver.
Jim Ross
The Undertaker stands in the ring as the WWE Champion on an undefeated streak over the last month. He has laid many to rest, including the man he will be facing next week, The Miz. However, The Miz is the only man to have beaten Undertaker since his illustrious return to the WWE, which was shrouded in darkness. But tonight he faces Austin, in the past Stone Cold normally came out superior, I remember a certain Summerslam 1998 when Stone Cold defeated Undertaker to retain his WWE Championship, perhaps we will see the belt around The Rattlesnake’s waist again?
Jerry Lawler
Uh, hopefully not. I’d prefer if Undertaker held on for a while yet, at least until a more suitable champion arrives on the scene. But anyway, let’s listen to The Undertaker, he’ll surely have something good to say about Austin.
Undertaker
Welcome to Monday Night Raw, my show. As your WWE Champion, I am at the summit of this brand and am the pinnacle of this business. You all may boo me, but it won’t ever matter to me because every week, I have produced the result. This week will be no different. Stone Cold, do you truly believe that you can defeat the reigning WWE Champion after a long break from the ring? Even if you were on top of your game, I have entered a league of my own Austin, none have ever performed at the level I am every week. I enter the ring a placid and collected destroyer and ever since I defeated WWE Champion Maven in the Championship Scramble, I have been first to leave the ring while my opponents lay with their bodies void and their soul in torment as I make sure they rest in peace! You may have been one of the most successful superstars to set foot in a WWE ring, but am the most feared and revered superstar in the entire history of this corporation. I have fought the very best, with you being one of them Austin, but you will stumble and succumb to the darkness as they all do. In the end the ravaging hands of The Reaper tears the competition to shreds, both mentally and physically. For you see Stone Cold, I am so notorious in this business that all who have opposed me here voices in their heads, see things that aren’t really there. You have experienced it before Stone Cold, but never as intensely as this. I have immersed myself in the darkness and in my Ministry. I have become the true incarnation of evil itself and when I step into the ring, it is no longer a competition, I don’t fight for glory Austin, no. I enter that ring filled with malignant intent, I feel the need to eradicate every challenger and sacrifice them to the fell shadow. When you awake to the flames of never ending damnation you will regret you ever encounter The Dragon in the ring.
The fans boo The Undertaker fervently, with each decibel they direct at the Undertaker, born of hate, the longing for Undertaker to finally give way to The Rattlesnake, Stone Cold grows. Undertaker has a manner about him which says he is oblivious to the torrent of abuse and hatred which is thundering around the arena. It is as though his reasoning to them last week when he pleaded for inter brand warfare was enough and that he is done interacting with them regarding their ill thoughts of him. Undertaker quickly switches hands and looks over to the other stand where a camera is awaiting his glance. As the camera zooms in, Undertaker looms over the camera, staring straight down the lens with his head bowed so his hair falls over his left eye, giving him a portentous look as he continues with his promo.
Undertaker
Now I don’t want to be branded as an importunate superstar on this brand and as someone who will plead to get what they desire, but I have heard no word regarding a pay per view between Smackdown versus Raw. I would much prefer for one of the McMahon’s to decline rather than endure the arduous time between the request and the response. Stone Cold, you may believe yourself to be a bad ass or a rebel, even with your colossal fan base and your anti establishment attitudes, you are not beyond the judgement of The Lord of Darkness. When I stand over your body after a tombstone and a swift three count, I will show no remorse when condemn you to the perpetual inferno of damnation by my hand. You had better hope you garner the victory of the century Stone Cold because otherwise, you will suffer. Now Austin, when you retaliate to the logic and reason I have put forward, please refrain from your usual inane nonsense, we don’t need to know how much beer you have drunk or that you are going to whip my ass. The fans simply won’t buy into anything like that Steve because they are fully aware of the awesome power of the Phenom and of my might within the ring. They know of the hopeless task you have undertaken, to defeat me. When you step into the ring you step into my yard and make no mistake I will run you into the ground and drive you out of my yard, permanently.
Jim Ross
The insane Undertaker goes on, threatening Stone Cold with his power of necromancy and is unbeaten streak in the ring. Rules and records are there to be broken and Steve Austin is pretty damn good at raising the bar and breaking the rules, so I have faith in The Rattlesnake to deliver tonight.
Jerry Lawler
JR have you been listening to anything that Undertaker has been saying the past few minutes. He just gave us undeniable reasons to why Stone Cold can’t win, face it JR your golden boy cannot conquer The Undertaker and if you don’t believe me you better be prepared for a disappointment.
Undertaker
When I am finished with you Stone Cold, your past achievements and reputation will be exonerated because all that will be remembered of you will be the unremitting beating you received at the hands of The Undertaker.
The fans begin to boo louder than ever in defence of their returning hero. Undertaker looks around him, he is surrounded in the hostility of the WWE fan base, finally he decides to retaliate.
Undertaker
You are all a group of fools, for you see all of you and Stone Cold Steve Austin feed off of each other, he needs your reaction and your support as you need him to represent you all. What will you do when I crush him? By vanquishing Stone Cold, I will sap your will and all of you will descend into hopelessness. When this happens, the next “good guy” fighting on your behalf will not have his support and will inevitably falter. By defeating your hero, I defeat you and mark my words, Stone Cold Steve Austin, I’m going to welcome you to the Devil’s playground, my playground tonight on Raw. I’m going to drag you through the unrelenting horrors of hell in the ring with me and when I’m done, you will be returned there to suffer eternally while I bask in the glory of yet another victory. I walk ever onward in my road to being the greatest ever, I have established that title on Raw, all I need is the chance to annihilate the opposition and I will stand supreme over all else on the entire industry. Austin, you are no more than a pebble on the long road to greatness I walk and I will send you flying away out of the title scene. Stone Cold Steve Austin, prepare yourself, tonight, you will REST………….IN……………..PEACE!
Having finished his promo with his signature catchphrase, Undertaker returns the microphone to the official before approaching the other end of the ring. Undertaker retains the cold, remorseless look deep in his eyes as he makes his way up the ramp, each stride he turns to a new fan, towering over them with a look of pure evil on his face as he stares down on to them. As Undertaker reaches the stage, he pauses before shooting back a gaze and raising his arm, sending two jets of flame into the air either side of him. Having nothing else to do, Undertaker concludes his visit to the hostile arena with his message thoroughly sent to Austin, the fans and even his boss, Vince McMahon. As the camera catches the last glimpse of The Undertaker disappearing behind the arena curtain, it swiftly switches the imagery from Undertaker to the announcing team of Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler.
Jim Ross
Well then, with Undertaker having had his say, I am now one hundred percent sure we are going to be seeing a great bout between these two men in tonight’s main event, Stone Cold Steve Austin versus The Undertaker. But first we have five man match between Hulk Hogan, Abyss, Randy Orton, Crash Barley and Velvet Sky, it should be a great bout!
Jerry Lawler
That’s for sure JR, but I’m really looking forward to the main event tonight, I want to see Undertaker and Austin go at it right now!
Jim Ross
Well I do too King but we also have some great matches such as Natlya Neidhart versus Hanna Beth and The Miz against the promising D’Lo Brown before we see our main event. The D’Lo versus Miz will be interesting as it could earn D’Lo and Intercontinental Title shot and The Miz needs a victory going into his World Title match against Undertaker. But for now we are going to take a short commercial break, don’t go away, we’ll be right back.
At that Monday Night Raw fades away into a tedious break for advertisements and a chance to get a snack before Raw returns.
