The scene opens up to the boisterous arena where Brian Gunn has recently exited after belittling “the greatest ever” Rey Mysterio and issuing a bold challenge to the current WWE Champion, The Undertaker. All the WWE fans watching at home and in attendance have a lot to look forward to in tonight’s episode of Monday Night Raw with a number one contender battle royal, an intercontinental title defense as well as three other classic matches. The quality of every show has been hiked up each week with the two brands, Smackdown and Raw, in direct competition with each other. Vince and Shane McMahon have been doing everything in their power to promote and improve their shows and it has gotten to the point where there has been backstage hostility and there have bee outcries by the fans for a Smackdown vs Raw pay per view, but only time will tell if they get it. The Raw camera crew are working on impressive camera angles and are currently sweeping passed the lower tier revealing “The Miz is awesome!” signs and “Rey Mysterio sucks”. The familiar duo of Jerry “The King” Lawler and Jim Ross come on screen and Jim Ross sits up looking prepared, while Lawler has his usual mischievous look twinkling in his eye.
Jim Ross: Hello Everybody and welcome back to Monday Night Raw, we have already seen quite a bit on tonight’s show with Rey Mysterio pulling up in a custom limousine and attacking our interviewer, Todd Grisham. Of course we have also heard from Brian Gunn who seems to have overlooked Rey Mysterio and his other opponents in tonight’s battle royal to Undertaker and the WWE Championship. Gunn seemed 100% sure he would defeat all of his opponents and dethrone our current intercontinental champion Triple H.
Jerry Lawler: Maybe he is making a mistake there JR. Triple H has successfully held on to that belt for a while and seems to be getting quite accustomed to having the gold around his waist, it may be quite difficult to beat him for it. Then of course there is the battle royal, I don’t know if Gunn will be able to pull it off.
Jim Ross: Well, we haven’t really seen a lot Brian in the ring and we don’t fully know what he is capable of. Perhaps he will be able to defeat Triple H and go on to fulfill his prophecy of beating The Undertaker for his WWE Championship. Who knows, but speaking of WWE’s Phenom, Undertaker is facing off against Rob Van Dam and I don’t think Undertaker has fought anybody quite like him since his big return to the business.
Jerry Lawler: True, ever since that seventh bell sounded in the arena, Undertaker hasn’t faces somebody with Rob Van Dam’s athletic capabilities, maybe “The whole fu*n show” will pull it off tonight. But despite the fact Undertaker hasn’t faced an out and out highflier yet, there is a long, impressive list of superstars who have fell to Undertaker during his WWE Championship reign.
Jim Ross: That’s very true King, The Miz, D’Lo Brown, Randy Orton and Maven have all fallen to Undertaker, who is due to deliver another ministry inspired message to us tonight. Undoubtedly it will feature RVD, but I am curious as to how The Deadman will respond to the words of Brain Gunn who seemed very intent on getting Undertaker one on one in the squared circle.
Jerry Lawler: Yeah, I’d personally love to see an Intercontinental vs WWE Championship bout. I wonder if it would end the same as when Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior squared off at Wrestlemania VI? Only time will tell as there are a lot of obstacles for Gunn to overcome on his road to the WWE Championship.
Jim Ross: Certainly King but I think it is time for the Undertaker to grant us audience with him in all of his “Dark, tainted glory” as he would say.
As JR finishes his last statement, the herald of The Undertaker sounds around the arena nullifying all light along with it, the crowd begin to boo while they anticipate the arrival of The Undertaker. The gong reverberates around the arena speaker system again and as the sound fills the arena, the audience begin to suffocate in the dark aura of The Demon of Death Valley. As Undertaker’s bell sounds once more, the darkness grows faint and a monotonous blue light makes the stage visible to the crowd. As the camera zooms in at a leisurely pace making the titantron more visible as the intro to Undertaker’s ministry riff begins. As the intro concludes, pyro explodes from the stage and as the smoke clears, Undertaker steps out from the back with an intense look in his eye.
Undertaker makes his way to the ring at his classic pace, with his gaze fixated on the ring where he is soon to deliver his message. Undertaker ascends the steel steps and returns light to the arena raising his arms high into the air. A microphone is awaiting Undertaker as he leans underneath the top rope and enters the ring. Undertaker snatches the microphone from the official and looms over him. The official is quick to exit the ring lest he suffer the wrath of The Phenom. Undertaker raises the microphone forward and shifts his piercing gaze over to the camera which has found a satisfactory angle on him.
Undertaker: Tonight, I stand before you as the dark champion of this corporation. Many have fallen to me in the past weeks and Vince McMahon has booked me against none other than Rob Van Dam. I can only say I am resentful of your decision to pit me against an opponent as unworthy as RVD, who will find himself in a stupor quicker than he can sing his own praises or get all of you to chant his name along with him. If Rob Van Dam thinks he can contend with me he is in for a long painful revelation when my resounding fists leave him with no choice but to allow me to scoop him up and drive his skull into the canvas, ending his less than reputable run in this industry.
The WWE fans cry out for Rob Van Dam and boo The Undertaker passionately, who seems to have the Raw brand in a strangle hold, exposing everyone to his eternal darkness and the Ministry.
Jim Ross: I think this is the loudest I have ever heard these fans King.
Jerry Lawler: I dunno JR, they may have been even louder the last time he was here!
Jim Ross: Either way the fans utter contempt for this monster of a man is very evident in the volume of their boos!
Undertaker appears unaffected by the hostile crowd, reinforcing his image as a man of no fear or emotion. The Deadman raises the microphone back to his lips still bearing that cold look on his face, which matches his callous eyes.
Undertaker: I am the most feared, the most respected and the most dominating force in the entire history of this business, there are none like me and there is nobody who will ever repeat my success. Rob Van Dam will fall tonight, but it appears that there is one who is willing to stand before me and be engulfed by the darkness, another soul which dares to cross The Reaper on his ever winding path of darkness. Brain Gunn, do you truly believe you well ever get the opportunity to even look into the eyes of the dragon and face me in my yard? You haven’t amounted to anything and you prophecies a victory over me and a multiple championship reign. The reality of this business is going to crush you. I sit at the top of this company, at the pedestal. You are a mere dot beneath me yet you would dare to challenge me.
The crowd boo Undertaker and clearly feel there is a chance that Gunn could amount to al he has predicted and may face off against Undertaker who seems less than convinced by his strong words.
Undertaker: Brain Gunn, if you can win the Battle Royal and defeat Triple H for his intercontinental belt, you can consider yourself worthy of a match with me. If you can fulfill your prophecies, I will face you at the ext major WWE event. But tonight is not about Brian Gunn, it is about defeating Rob Van Dam and solidifying my image as the greatest superstar and champion in the history of Raw. You can come into this match prepared Rob Van Dam, but it won’t matter. I know you’ll train and you’ll push yourself to the limits so that you wrestle the best match you have ever wrestled but it will make no difference to you fate. When you Step in the ring with The Phenom you are not in a wrestling match, you’re in a battle for your mere survival. I am notorious for destroying my opposition and for making my opponents into victims and Rob Van Dam, you are soon to become the latest victim of The Reaper. When the referees hand slaps the mat for the third time and I raise m triumphant right arm, I will deliver your soul into eternal damnation. You will be forever tortured by the hounds of hell, which will tear at your waking soul, while I lay you body to rest in a damp grave, filled with your own failure.
Jerry Lawler: Jeez! Undertaker is intense tonight.
Jim Ross: You can say that again!
Undertaker: I hop you have heeded my words Rob Van Dam and have adequately prepared yourself for the end, because tonight, you will…….REST………….IN…………PEACE!!!!
Undertaker is fixed in his pose for a moment, transfixed in his own darkness, oblivious to the hostility of the crowd. Undertaker’s eyes are slowly restored and The Deadman makes his way back up the ramp to the jeers of the audience. Undertaker pauses and shoots his gaze back to the ring sharply where he is to return once more tonight to face off against Rob Van Dam.
Jim Ross: All of Undertaker’s animosity and dark foretelling has been poured out over this crowd who have booed him all throughout. I for one hope that ob Van Dam defeats Undertaker tonight and ends him and his evil din.
Jerry Lawler: Well I can’t say I am surprised at you JR.
Jim Ross: What is it King?
Jerry Lawler: Typical Jim Ross, always taking sides, never giving anybody who isn’t in you “good book” beside your boy Stone Cold a chance.
Jim Ross: King, Undertaker has become a monster how can you not see that?
Jerry Lawler: I can see it perfectly well JR, it’s just typical of you to be so opinionated.
Jim Ross: King, I am not opinionated and Austin is not my “boy”, I respect him and I happen to root for the people I respect and I lack respect for The Undertaker.
Jerry Lawler: Alright JR, let’s make a bet, I’ll take Undertaker, you take RVD, I like my odds.
Jim Ross: Oh brother, Monday Night Raw will return after these short messages, don’t go away.
As JR temporarily signs off, the camera zooms out to see Jim Ross trying to reason with King who seems to be having none of it. The screen then fades out into the WWE logo followed by some messages from their sponsors.
