King: Definition: A Ruler: Someone above the rest to wear the crown that makes the rules. Either a tyrant or a defender, to stand up as a powerful symbol before the eyes of many. Whether this ruler stands in the darkness or the light it does not matter. A King is power in his own right and will make the calls for those beside and around him. A King is someone respected, someone who has earned the title and credit through domination, negotiation, and intimidation.
The factor of a King’s presence either does strike fear or the need for respect. This holds true with a man who has battled his way back up from the ashes, this man has risen from a fallen career once he arrived in Thy. That man is The King of Kings Triple H, holding the title of King that outshines the name of many other kings. Triple H has sat on that throne as much as other men. Dominating those who came before him and tried to take his spot, now in Thy he had to earn the title all over again, moving one foot over and over again back up his crumbling empire. Now he stands to face someone considered like a knight of Thy, someone that comes off as a challenger for his throne, someone who did not have the success of taking it over. That man who could not grasp the belt was none other than Brian Gunn who at the point of messing with Triple H had been mental, now with more sanity the feud seems to still continue since Triple H is next in line for the title shot and can finally reclaim his throne. But before that even happens a man stands in his way that man doesn’t want Triple H to walk out the winner, he doesn’t want Triple H reclaiming such grand glory because he did not achieve it. Triple H has fought his way back up the steps that he made famous, he is climbing back to where he once ruled. With the king looking now past only a few men that stand in his way of becoming the King of Kings that he is known to be.
The scene comes to the image of a promo video and it shows Triple H standing within a castle that seems to be worn, he is literally dressed in his ring attire as he moves one foot after the other to ascend the steps. The camera turns full circle for an instant to show the bodies behind him, the bodies represented of the men he has had to go through. The camera focuses back on Triple H, it focuses on the man as his foot reaches the top step and standing there is the image of Brian Gunn, behind Brian Gunn on his throne is Sheamus wearing the crown of a king. Triple H starts to move but cannot go past, he feels the air before him and then lowers his head for a moment. The image of Brian Gunn solidifies and Triple H raises his head back up glaring at the image of Brian Gunn, Triple H’s whole form as he shown clenching his fists, as both hands tighten Triple H is show yelling loud before charging in and that is when the promo ends and it shows the name of the Pay per View.
[Two Days Before Attrition: Drinking with a side of Intellegence]
The camera comes to a small alcove in an alley way as Triple H is standing there wearing a black jeans, he has on a white t-shirt with his logo and wears a black leather jacket. In his hands is a bottle of Jack Daniels where he is just taking back a few sips. Triple H wears sunglasses standing away from being out in the open in the midst of fans. He keeps his back firmly placed against the wall as he stops to think.
[The King of Kings] Triple H: “Returning to this business after thinking I had nothing left was the hardest choice I have ever had to make. Just two Pay per Views ago I was battered and beaten. Mr. Cartwright instilled something in me that night, something that made me promise myself that I would never lose again. He put me down so hard that had sense knocked into me. True I am not getting any younger, true I have already worn my fair share of belts, and true I had let my ego get the best of me that night. Then like a light bulb it snapped within my mind, the bright bulb came on and there it was. Just do what you have always done is what I told myself. Don’t let one man make a difference to knocking you down. You may be the older stallion but that doesn’t mean the heart has gone out of it. That doesn’t mean that I am ready to be put out to pasture. Hearing that own knowledge coursing through my brain let me know that I was indeed not done. That I still had this unyielding passion and desire to keep the flames of my legacy alive. Just when people thought Cartwright put out the fire he just stoked it sending the flames burning and raging higher than ever before. Now that fire is my weapon, that fire becomes my tool. For each man that has come into contact with me as of late gets burned. I’ve piled up the bodies since arriving, I’ve devastated as a one man army looking to retake what should rightfully be his. There is no catch to why it has to be this way, it just has to so I am where I belong. Sheamus sits on my throne, that Irish mistake wears gold that represents everything I am about. March of 1992 I made my professional wrestling debut, next year it will mark twenty years I have broken through men and left them devastated. It will be since that time I have bore the of King of Kings. A reign that will not come to an end but before I am able to break the will of the one called Sheamus I must break the bones of Brian Gunn. A thorn in my side, just like many before him. Brain Gunn has been an irritation in Thy before I even arrived, he was shown dominate, he was shown as this entity that couldn’t be beaten then Sheamus got his hands on him. Brian Gunn lost, he couldn’t hack it at all. So where does he wind up? He winds up having to face me at Attrition. I get to be the one to put him down and out of the way, the real final body to break and step over before I look dead in the eyes of Sheamus.”
Triple H raised the bottle of Jack Daniels up and looked at it for a second before slowly lowering it down.
[The King of Kings] Triple H: “It may just be me, it may just be the fact I am at the bottom of the bottle. But have you ever felt like something was fate? That it was destiny to face certain people? I mean some men never realize it until days before battle that their greatest matches have still yet to come. Inside I personally feel as if this battle with Brian Gunn was fated in this life or the next. Like the two sides to every coin you have tails and heads, the balance of good and evil as well. Brian Gunn has been a presence that got the recognition of others, his matches were praised. Now the same has been stated for me the moment I turned my fight around from losing to winning non stop. I can name three men right now in Thy that have been billed as the best those men are Sheamus, Brian Gunn, then me. But that order is wrong, that order is besmirching my reputation for if I am the King of Kings why am I standing behind those two? Why is it my name is not the direct headline? The answer to that is because I have to reclaim it, Brian Gunn knows that me and him do not like each other. It’s even honest that he tried to start with me by messing with my locker room. Now we stand as two of the men that want to claim prize to the world championship that is placed upon Sheamus’s own waist. Myself and Brian want that belt, I am billed as The Game and he is billed as The World’s Greatest. In two days we can have out match billed as The World’s Greatest Game Ever Played!”
Triple H would finish off the bottle of Jack Daniels before throwing it at the wall and it shattered into many pieces. Triple H stepped off the wall and walked over picking up a piece of the glass. Grabbing it he made a small cut along the palm of his hand. He dropped the glass and balled a fist squeezing the cut, opening it back up there was blood on it. The cut wasn’t big but the hand could bleed well. Triple H then used his left hand to remove his sunglasses as the camera focused on Triple H’s right hand.[The King of Kings] Triple H: “This is what I have constantly done for the business Brian. This is what I have constantly gone through in my nineteen years. Each drop of blood, each and every night that I go out there with or without that my blood is a representation of two things. One that I will sacrifice it to get what I want, that I will cost my own physical well being to crush those around me. If I am beaten down I will get back up as the blood continues to run down and through my veins. The other thing it represents is that this business is in my blood. I’m never going to back down from a challenge, I am never going to be pressed to fall to the hands of another without giving everything. Bleeding is something I have done and bleeding in that ring didn’t make it better for the company but I believe once a drop of your blood hits that canvas you are remembered forever. Brian you were crazy when I met you, the possessed demon Brian Gunn. But now you are back to your normal self looking to prove what Brian Gunn can do. I respect that you want to prove yourself but I will let you now it is all in vain. Sometimes you have to be a little crazy to do the things you have to do in this business. But that comes with the territory, if you get crazy and violent enough to bust me open then the blood with flow and that adrenaline will drive me into a ferocious rage. The kind that lets a hunter disembowel his prey. The blind rage has always been the most vicious assault a man can lapse into. Blood falling down across your face and a rage that just seemingly never ends is one of the most deadly combinations with in wrestling. In general too mess with someone in that state is usually a fatal mistake on the part of most men. I promise you though Brian bleeding or not you will become nothing more than the rug in that ring that I wipe my feet upon. I am destined to face you, I am destined to defeat you, and you really have no chance of playing The Game. Blood, sweat, and tears I am the monster from your fears. I will fight until I cannot move so you best be praying that you can keep me down!”
Triple H would move to the solid brick wall and along it with one finger using his blood he wrote BG slowly before putting an X over it. Triple H backed away from the wall nodded and walked away from the alley.
[One Day Before Attrition: Outside the Office]
Triple H watched as his wife Stephanie and the kids went into her father’s house. Triple H watched them greet their grandmother Linda as Vince came over and shook Hunter’s hand. Vince was actually dressed relaxed in a pair of khakis and white button down shirt. Triple H wore blue jeans and a black t-shirt. The two men started to take a short stroll down along the massive driveway.
[The King of Kings] Triple H: “Vince I’ve noticed since opening Thy WWE you haven’t taken the time to really run it yourself. I know that you’ve been busy and finally have two competent general managers that run things correctly. I’m on Raw and I am headed into tomorrow as one of the must see guys still. I’m going up against Brian Gunn, probably one of your better acquisitions to the roster.”
[Thy Owner] Vince McMahon: “Well Paul the best thing about hiring Brian Gunn is that his antics and his ability in the ring has drawn quite a good amount of people. I have no doubt in the ability of that man and I don’t doubt the ability you have. It was you that actually married my daughter so I never doubt about you getting what you want. Just don’t go underestimating your opponent.”
[The King of Kings] Triple H: “That’s true I won’t do that but the fact remains he is a very diverse character and very in tune with his ability to do things. But what if he does win?”
[Thy Owner] Vince McMahon: “So he wins, it is not like the world ends if you lose Paul. I mean you have gone so long now and if you lose it don’t take your world championship shot away. It just means you lost and you move on, Paul I’ve known you for a long time now and you can’t just think about losing. You got one of the biggest matches on the card and probably the most sought after spot in Thy being the number one contender.”
[The King of Kings] Triple H: “Yeah you have a point, I’ve lost but people still see me as that measuring stick to see if they can even hack it in the ring. Brian Gunn is no different but he has something that the others haven’t had and that is actual ability to speak well and wrestle well. But what will it take to keep me at a win if that’s what I really want?”
[Thy Owner] Vince McMahon: “Well it won’t be me because I am not getting involved in your match Paul. I’ve watched you overcome some big gaps over the years and come back from two career ending knee injuries. What you will do there tomorrow night is the same thing you have done every night. My name is Vincent Kennedy McMahon and I built an empire from something small. That’s the same way you started, the will to fight is how you will beat Brian Gunn.”
[The King of Kings] Triple H: “Then I will do all in my power to make sure he doesn’t win. I wasn’t asking for you to get involved I just wanted to get your opinion and I know now what it is that I must do. It is clear to me that the fight is in my hands it has always been in my hands. Vince you are honestly a good man and I am thankful that you listened.”
[Thy Owner] Vince McMahon: “Paul answer this question for me. Why would a thirteen time world champion even doubt himself?”
[The King of Kings] Triple H: “You are right I shouldn’t but I stated the other day that facing Brian Gunn feels like one of those things that was meant to happen like fate chose the both of us to be at a standstill. We are two men that both have been on the top of the company as of late and this match was booked since things started not to long ago. I know you haven’t really been on the shows yourself but you can see that me and Brian have had issues in the past few months and now once the title chance comes my way there he is. First it was a small joke mess with my locker room but it evolved and now I am anticipating the match which I know that Brian is as well. Vince I came to you to talk because you grew up in this business and I do know my fair share of things. Brian Gunn is the type of person I have wanted to face. He is sincere and like me wants the world to know where he stands. That feeling of understanding your opponent is actually there for us.”
[Thy Owner] Vince McMahon: “Then go out there and show Brian Gunn what you have, you’ve spoken out on him for weeks now Paul. This is the time that you finally take action and do something about it. You fight with your heart and passion that you’ve spoken on. Giving it everything you have is something you’ve never held back on. The kind of fight in my son in law few men have. If this matches is destiny then go to it, the family will be watching and supporting. I know that Steph and the kids are staying here while you go do our thing.”
[The King of Kings] Triple H: “Again Vince thanks and watch after them all for me, tomorrow this ass kicking to Brian Gunn is for all of us because I want to show you that people who piss me off get handled, never know maybe one day I will run the company for you.”
Triple H and Vince shared a laugh as Triple H walked back to his vehicle and it slowly sped off out of the parking lot, Vince stood there waving as Triple H left the McMahons estate.
[Day of Attrition: One More Body]
The scene shows a gray cement floor, footsteps are heard as a black shadow moves behind what looks like a water boiler and several other pipes. The image comes out from behind all the mechanical objects. Standing in his wrestling attire and hair matted down holding an old world championship belt in his hands from his WWE days. Triple H would hang the belt onto a pipe and looked to it, he put his head down as he pulled out his entry number from the Royal Rumble and looks at it. His voice sounds low and cold as he begins to speak.
[The King of Kings] Triple H: “Fate has shown me that I can overcome my obstacles and that I can take out those that try to get into my business. Maven fell, Austin Starr fell, Barton fell, Xavier Oden fell, and 29 other men have fallen. The reason they fell is because they stepped into my path, they went head to head with the most vicious man to come forth in this entire business. They came in contact with the Cerebral Assassin who has a talent for taking out those who think they are good. Brian Gunn you think you are good but while you were busy losing your match against Sheamus I was winning the Royal Rumble match. I entered number thirty and took the biggest match of the year as the winner. This number in my hands was my key to winning alongside my determination. Brian you fell to Sheamus that night, you let the Irish Curse make you his like a dime and nickel prostitute. Once that ended you lost your demon, you became normal again once you seemingly couldn’t take down that over grown walking sun screen marketer’s dream. See Brian you should take notice of what I am . I’m not just a man who won the rumble, I’m more than that tonight. You know everyone has their monsters, everyone has a real demon that they are meant to face. Your demon Brian Gunn is me!”
Triple H grabbed his old world championship now dropping the number to the floor and looked to it in his arms.
[The King of Kings] Triple H: “Call me your very own Boogeyman Brian Gunn. Call me the one that waits for the lights to dim and then once they are on you fall. You don’t have the same desire and potential I do to hold a belt like this again. To hold the belt that resides in my arms. I have worn thirteen of these. I’ve never bowed down to any other man and I won’t start now. This belt is a representation of what I will have next month and what you will wish you had. See that story of there is always someone better than you. That phrase was written around genetics like mine Brian. I’ve got the power, determination, hunger, and sadistic nature that makes me a prime candidate to be nothing but the best. I’ve gone through stages of my evolution but tonight being the monster that is going to maim and slaughter you to prove that you don’t belong I had a name that fit once. Terra Ryzing aka Terror Rising, that’s how you should feel Brian. You should feel the terror rising inside of you, your body shaking, your hands clammy, and your voice feels as if its closed which won’t allow you to scream. By hand or hammer you won’t be walking out of the arena on your own two feet. Until you can prove to me in that ring about what you can do against me then I am not going to like you. Fear is a powerful thing and I know you don’t fear me openly but when you get into the ring and I am beating you within an inch of your life you will then know that fear I have been verbally expressing. The grasp of my hands feeling like death reached out and touched you himself will be your undoing. In retrospect you are all that stands between me and Sheamus. Once I bring you down I bring down the throne thieving marshmellow. This belt, the one I hold shows that I want more than anything to return to being the most dominant. I’ve felt the cold breath of emptiness strike my spine making me know that I have yet to make any claim. But as I stand at the top of the stairs, as I look at you I am going to send you tumbling back down the steps. You will drown in the essence of knowing in the end the better man is standing across from you. I fear nothing nor do I fear any man. Brian Gunn do you honestly think that if you beat me you will be able to grasp at something like this again?”
Triple H would look up at the same time he lifted the belt up showing it to the camera. He smirked as he patted it before hanging it back up and letting the camera focus on the world championship from Triple H’s past.
[The King of Kings] Triple H: “This belt is something that you won’t come near, as long as breath runs through the lungs of Triple H you will not get to be World Champion. As long as breath is taken into my body I will stop any man that tries to make claim to my throne. Brain Gunn makes false claims at believing he should still be the one that faces him. I don’t know what made you want to start with me back then Brian, I don’t know what it was about me that drew you to be a thorn in my side but all I know is now you have to deal with me in a match and you have to survive that. We’ve had shares of attacks or problems that have risen and here we are finally going to put things on the line and solve this who is better crap. But you have to promise me something while you are listening to this Brian, you have to promise me that once I am done with you that you won’t show me disrespect and know who the better man truly was. I’m the Boogeyman, I will keep coming night after night. I will change the face of Thy as I have continued to do. I respect the fans, I respect the locker room, and I respect this business but I will thrive on fear whether I am supported or not. I feel no remorse for what I want to do to you. Brian there is a difference between us when you went psycho on everyone that is when your real sadistic side came out. You wanted to destroy and take over, if that was a supposed possession then you failed already. I am as sane as the day I was born and I will still be that monster who will break each and every single digit in your hand if it means that I can put you down. It’s not about being a bad guy or even a good guy. What it is about is doing what you must to get where you want to be. I am only so far away from being the champion. I beat you then I continue on. You are a step, just one of the many that I’ve had to crush to move back.”
The camera glitches out and it shows the promo from earlier but Triple H standing at the top of the stairs, a man that looks like Brian Gun lays on the floor. Triple H holds a sledgehammer in his hands and in a swift motion he slams it down where Gunn’s head is and suddenly before anything is seen it jumps back to Triple H in the basement. He was standing there holding a picture of his wife and daughters.
[The King of Kings] Triple H: “See I am a family man Brian, I know the dangers of what I do. This picture reminds me of more reason I fight it is because all of them believe in me. You may understand but you need to know for the love of everything I have, for the fear of those who know me, and for the respect my name has gained those alone are high reasons of why I am going to strike you without care. Because no matter what I do people pay attention to me.”
Triple H grabbed the belt and pulled out a steel chair from behind the pipes, taking the title into his hands he would sit down on the chair. Triple H continued to look the belt over once more and then turned it to the camera showing the name plate that had his name upon it.
[The King of Kings] Triple H: “So what do you do Brian Gunn when fate is against you? What do you do when the world is out to get you? You wait for me to end you no matter what happens. If you feel your lungs start to give the air will come back because I didn’t say you could go yet. See when you get into my world, when you step into my kingdom it’s just not that easy to escape. I’ve beaten down the best and I made them look like children who were just trying to play tag. But this match with us is a fated feud a rivalry that is greater than ourselves. My name on this belt, this shows I’ve walked this road before, that I got past men who tried to stop me or tried to be a road block. Brian you are just a road block to me, nothing but a cretin standing in the way of my perfection. I’ve wanted to get my hands on you for so long now in a mere matter of hours before we are looking into the eyes of the other. I talk of fear, I talk of respect, I talk of getting the job done. But in the end Gunn it literally is on you. The fact we are finally culminating our rivalry with this match has me prepared. I touch this belt and I know what awaits me after I destroy and disassemble you. We have come so far and its going to bring the roof down off this place. I’ve cast my pity and remorse aside. Tonight I come on a war path like a Viking king, I come strong like Spartacus in the arena of old, I battle like the great Achilles but with no weakness. Brian Gunn we fight to make fans scream and we fight to determine which of us really possesses the greatness. American Advisor to Leaders Anthony Robbins said ‘You're in the midst of a war: a battle between the limits of a crowd seeking the surrender of your dreams, and the power of your true vision to create and contribute. It is a fight between those who will tell you what you cannot do, and that part of you that knows / and has always known / that we are more than our environment; and that a dream, backed by an unrelenting will to attain it, is truly a reality with an imminent arrival.’ Know those words Brian gone because my dream will become a reality and no longer shall I be subjected to waiting. Soon enough when I beat you Iwill do what you could not and that Brian Gunn is become champion.”
Triple H set the title down on the chair after he stood up. Triple H was walking away his footsteps were heard but then his voice came back as the title sat on the chair.
[The King of Kings] Triple H: “Thanks Brian, your just another body on the pile, just another marker for me to achieve what should be mine. Brian Gunn you will try to play the game but like all others before you expect the same fate. To always and forever BOW DOWN TO THE KING OF KINGS!”
Triple H’s footsteps were heard as he finally walked away, the camera zoomed in on the past championship before it slowly faded to black, Triple H was set and his mind was clear, all he wanted was to destroy one more man, one more body on the chopping block before taking back his throne.OOC: Word Count is 5,116!
